No, it's not because I'm scared of opinions.

EDIT: Oh, for fuck's sake. I swear, if I had a dollar for every time someone assumed why I disable comments on my stamps without reading this... Eye Roll

EDIT #2: It is NOT "anti-free speech"/violation of your Free Speech nor censorship to disable comments. If it was, then disabling comments wouldn't be an option on here...Or deviantART would be in violation of the law(s) for allowing that option, not the individual. Come on...Please use that thing 3ft above your ass before pressing "Comment," guys. You'll prevent a lot of potential embarrassments that way. :unimpressed:
Do you see me bitching at people for disabling comments? No, because I can still respond to it via my journal or writing a response-piece. Also known as a "rebuttal."

----
...Or because I get trolled.
But because:
1. I got fed up with comments on my stamps overflowing my inbox, while my writing gets jackshit. Seriously, it gets fucking annoying when the only comments on my stamps are just "OMFG I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!1!!" I appreciate those comments, but I'm not on here just to make stamps and express my opinions with them, you know. Actually, I only make stamps when I have an idea for them and/or I'm bored and/or I have the time. My real reason for this account is for my writing. So it's frustrating when my stamps got more attention. I'm not going to stop making them because I like making them, but really...does anyone ever even pay any attention to the REST of my gallery? Or is it just my stamps? Come on, guys! I'm literally starving for feedback on my writing over here! :saddummy:
I don't even care if it's all negative. Just as long as you're explaining WHY.

2. I also got fed up with people throwing temper tantrums. I'm not talking about people giving me their point of view of the topic, I'm talking about people bitching and moaning at me for posting such an "offensive" stamp. I must admit, though...Having people getting pissed off at my stamps is actually entertaining.
But I do have a limit to the amount of complaints I want to look at.

3. I also got fed up with repeating myself in the comments because people won't bother reading the descriptions. I didn't fucking write those descriptions for shits and giggles, you know. So completely ignoring the text that's already RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU is incredibly rude.

And with my comments disabled on stamps,

you're still more than welcome to talk about them on my front page.

I don't mind that, since I still sometimes enjoy having civilized debates on them. And I looooooove learning new viewpoints and different perspectives from people, so that's the main reason why I like debating. 'Cause learning is fun. :icondummywooplz:

...Just as long as you're mature, respectful, and don't resort to name-calling or other shitty methods of "debating." I may respond if you propose arguments in a calm, mature manner free of insults....Not "arguments" used as a pathetic excuse to be an asshole. :|

  • NOTE: Some stamps, like the highly controversial/political ones, I will make it known that I'm NOT up to debating them. The reason is because the topic is a dead horse and nobody likes to beat dead horses. Comment on my page if you want, but it may end up being ignored because I'm not in the mood anymore to debate that particular topic.

But if you're just going to sit there on my page and throw a temper-tantrum at me about how offended you are, instead of being a mature, civilized person, expect your comment to be hidden to keep the drama down and/or expect a sassy response from me or whoever else sees your tantrum. Because if you're trying to make me look like a fool on my front page, you're going to look like a fool as well.

So no, I don't do it because I'm ignorant or cowardly. I actually do research the opposition's argument on most of my stamps, just so I don't look ignorant, nor am I afraid to be proven wrong. In fact, I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong when faced with enough sufficient evidence to beat mine. Really, I often post these stamps because I want to learn, not because I want to be a snotty know-it-all who doesn't like to be wrong.
