It would be like giving them up to PETA.

Wow...It's been forever since I used Flash to make an animated stamp, so I was worried that this wouldn't work...

Releasing animals from the zoos, SeaWorld, etc...would be sentencing them to death.

It would be equivalent to giving them to PETA...And if you've heard of PETA's infamy, you would know what I mean by that.

A majority of the animals in the zoos and SeaWorld, etc. were born in captivity and never learned how to survive on their own. They never learned how to hunt, how to defend themselves from predators, etc.

So if you were to release them from captivity, you would be sending them to their deaths because they would not survive at all. They're so domesticated, they will have no idea how to feed themselves.

Some of the wildlife that is rescued by SeaWorld and such, are treated for health problems or for environmental disasters (i.e. oil spills). After their health returns, they are released back into the wild.

They are not "stealing" them.
They are not torturing them.

"B-BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE INCIDENTS WHERE TRAINERS WERE KILLED BY THE ANIMALS?"
Those are rare, and they primarily happen because the animal might have mistook their own actions as being "playful" with the trainer and did not know that what they were doing was actually killing the human. They're animals. No matter how much you train them, an animal will cause accidents. It's an occupational hazard when working with animals.

And there are cases where the animal was actually being abused, which caused the animal to become angry and violent, but those cases are even more rare.

"B-BUT WHAT ABOUT WHAT BLACKFI––"
Fuck Blackfish. That documentary is as equally full of bullshit and fear-mongering as PETA is. [x] [x] [x]

You know why they keep animals in zoos and parks?
Because the animals there are...
  • endangered in the wild
  • too injured/sick to be returned to the wild
  • born there
  • for research & observation
  • to educate the public about them.

Zoos and SeaWorld exist not for using animals just for entertainment.
The only reason why they do train some animals for entertainment is because that is the most effective way to raise funds to perform wildlife rescues and research and education on animals.

Relying on donations is not enough. And many people learn best when they are entertained, so what faster way to raise funds than to train some bred-in-captivity animals to educate and entertain people?

But if you abolish zoos, SeaWorld, etc and send the animals back into the wild, you will be killing those animals. Maybe not directly, with your own hands, but by your decisions of shutting down the zoos and SeaWorld, you would be signing their death certificate.

  • No more wildlife rescues or animal conservation
  • No more animal education
  • No more endangered species (because they would turn into extinct species)
  • No more exotic and rare animals to see for yourself
It's not like you can just take them to some regular veterinarian when you find a dying beached animal or a poor animal covered in pollution.

I always see "Lost Cat" signs around my neighborhood...I'm sorry, but if your cat got out of the house, it's likely to end up on the menu for predators like coyotes. That's what happens when a domesticated animal goes out into the wild. Very rarely are they ever seen alive again.
A family friend lost a dog out in the desert once...They found her alive 2 weeks later, but the poor thing was in a horrible condition.

So if you wouldn't release your family pet into the wild, then why would you advocate releasing domesticated animals in the zoos and SeaWorld?
